FILLMORE : Drive to Raise Funds for Computer Lab
Hoping to more than double the number of computers at Fillmore Middle School, two community members have launched a fund-raising drive to amass $40,000 for a computer lab at the school.
Middle school humanities teacher Dave MacDonald and insurance broker Mark Clausen announced the drive after deciding that the school’s 20 Apple computers were not sufficient for its 500 seventh- and eighth-graders.
“These days, just about any job you get into you’re going to need to know how to use a computer,” Clausen said. The two plan a fund-raiser at J ‘n’ L Pizza in Fillmore later this month. They hope to reach their funding goal and purchase 30 computers by next fall.
