The Long Beach Little League will have a fund-raising dinner and auction of memorabilia Sunday from the recent World Series. An autograph session with the league’s world championship all-star team is also scheduled.

The event is to help defray travel costs incurred by family members of the Long Beach All-Stars, who defeated Panama, 3-2, last month to win a second consecutive world title.

League officials estimate that each family spent more than $5,000 in food, transportation and lodging during a two-month sojourn that included lengthy stops in San Diego, San Bernardino and Williamsport, Pa.

Little League Baseball Inc., does not pay expenses of all-star family members at any time or for players on the first three stops of all-star play. It picks up the tab for teams only at the Western Regional and World Series.

The dinner is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Cirivello’s Restaurant, 4115 Viking Way. Cost including dinner is $15 per person. Information: (310) 420-2113.
