Darryl Strawberry resumed his workouts at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Inglewood Wednesday and will continue his rehabilitation program there at least until the team opens its final home stand on Sept. 24, said Fred Claire, Dodger executive vice president.

Claire made the decision for Strawberry not to come to Dodger Stadium after he spoke with him Wednesday morning. “It’s not as if we have said to Darryl, ‘Don’t come in,’ ” Claire said. “We are not going to hold him back. We just believe it would be best for him to continue his workouts there.”

Since his arrest Saturday for alleged assault on his girlfriend, Strawberry has not been in the Dodger clubhouse.
