College Board to Consider Budget

Share

The Ventura County Community College District board will vote Tuesday on whether to adopt a proposed $62.7-million budget for the district’s 1993-94 school year.

The budget is about $2.4 million more than the tentative budget the board approved in May. District officials had planned for state budget cuts as high as 2% when they drew up the original budget last spring, but the actual cuts came in at only one-half of 1%.

The unexpected revenues will allow the district to replenish its reserve fund, refurbish the campuses and pay off the debts it ran up from offering an early retirement program.

Only minor changes have been proposed for the budget since board members approved allocation of the extra $2.4 million last month.

District officials have recommended transferring $75,000 from the administration’s budget to the college library budgets to help buy more books.
