Bank of America Names Chief Entertainment Banker

Laura L. Calhoun has been named Bank of America’s chief entertainment banker. She replaces Gary J. Matus, who was recently promoted to head BofA’s private bank.

Calhoun has been working in BofA’s Entertainment and Media Group. She previously worked for Security Pacific National Bank, joining BofA when the San Francisco bank acquired Security Pacific last year.

Calhoun will manage a portfolio involving more than 200 clients.

Republic Pictures Corp. Chairman Russell Goldsmith will become president and chief executive of Spelling Entertainment when Spelling completes its acquisition of Republic Pictures Corp. in January (see Deals on D4).

The executive committee will include Blockbuster Entertainment Chief Executive H. Wayne Huizenga and Vice Chairman Steven R. Berrard. Blockbuster will own 70.5% of the new company.

Also serving on the committee will be producer Aaron Spelling.

Spelling Chief Operating Officer Ron Lightstone has decided to leave the company, officials said.

Former Capitol Records executive Art Jaegar, who left during the recent management shake-up, has resurfaced at Gold Mountain Music, management home to Nirvana and Bonnie Raitt.
