Britain Seeking Lower Drug Prices: Faced with the need to control health care costs, the government is poised to tighten the screws on drug companies. A government-appointed panel, known as the Advisory Committee on Drugs, has begun telling pharmaceutical companies to match the price of the cheapest product in each of 10 drug categories. The companies’ alternative is to have their products blacklisted in one of Europe’s biggest drug markets. The British government needs no legislative approval to implement the rules, which will take effect by early November.
