Wave Watchers: You know the drill: It never rains in Southern California, so why bother with the weather report.

But there are Southern Californians for whom weather is important. One of those interested groups is Orange County’s large surfing community, which can turn to Surfline/Wavetrak, a Huntington Beach company, for daily and long-range wave reports for major coastal areas on the continental United States and Hawaii.

The company recently unveiled a new service: Hurricane Trak, which keeps tabs on hurricanes. Hurricane Trak is aimed at two groups: surfers, who love hurricanes for the waves they produce, and amateur hurricane watchers, who simply want to keep tabs on Mother Nature.
