Glendale : Mall Merchants Unveil Sign

Share

The first of eight directory signs to be placed in the Montrose Shopping Park drive-through mall was unveiled Tuesday in a brief ceremony by local merchants.

The lighted signs, which show the location of shops and proximity to parking lots--similar to directories in the Glendale Galleria and other malls--will be installed by mid-October at strategic locations near crosswalks along Honolulu Avenue between Verdugo Road and Las Palmas Avenue, said Walt Hackman, president of the Montrose Shopping Park Assn.

Earlier this year, the Glendale Redevelopment Agency allocated $25,000 for the signs as part of a city program to promote economic development throughout the community, said John McKenna, city planning director.

A contract for the signs, which are 3 1/2 feet wide by 7 feet tall, was awarded by the merchants’ group to Sierra Fine Images, a Montrose firm.
