Loewy Named Director of Mental Health Center

Olivia Loewy, Ph.D., has been named clinical director of the Verdugo Mental Health Center in Glendale.

Loewy has worked with the center for the last 20 years in a variety of positions. She most recently served as consultant to the center’s Positive Directions Community Counseling Center.

Loewy will oversee all of the center’s programs, including the Glen Roberts Child Study Center, Arden House, the VMHC Drug Free program and the Verdugo Psychotherapy Institute.

Blaine A. Childress, of Glendale and Springfield, Mo., has donated $50,000 to establish a library in Seymour, Mo., as part of his wish to help the city’s children.

Childress retired as a Glendale fire captain in 1975 after 26 years with the department.

Terri Mutch of La Canada Flintridge was installed as president of the Women’s Council of Verdugo Hills Hospital and Foundation.

Mutch has served as membership chairman and directed the council’s annual Christmas fund-raiser.

Bernard Glossy, president and chief executive officer of Verdugo Hills Hospital, has received fellowship status in the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society representing over 27,000 health-care executives.

To achieve the fellowship, Glossy demonstrated his education, experience and leadership in health care and completed a management project.
