Supervisors May Erase Cleanup Permit Fee

The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday will decide whether to eliminate a $55 fee imposed on community groups and other organizations planning to erase graffiti from county flood-control channels.

The permit fee has slowed community cleanup projects, said county Supervisor Vicky Howard, who proposed the change.

The giant concrete storm water channels line roadways throughout the county and are prime targets for graffiti vandals, Howard said.

“Needless to say, this fee has had a dampening affect on some groups,” Howard said.

“It is certainly in the public’s and the county’s best interest to facilitate quick removal of graffiti.”
