UAW Council to Start New Talks: The United Auto Workers union, fresh from negotiating a tentative contract with Ford Motor Co., said it will begin intensive bargaining at Chrysler Corp. starting Wednesday. UAW President Owen Bieber said the union hopes to negotiate the same salary and pension increases at Chrysler that it won from Ford, when it signed a tentative three-year contract. Separately, the union’s national bargaining council approved the Ford pact for ratification by union members later this week.
