MOORPARK : City to Consider Farmers’ Market

Share

The Moorpark City Council Wednesday will consider allowing the Chamber of Commerce to use the city’s Metrolink parking lot on High Street to stage a weekly, four-hour farmers’ market aimed at drawing visitors to the city’s downtown.

In two meetings with chamber officials, council members said they were concerned that holding the market from 3 to 7 p.m. each Saturday might interfere with weekend Amtrak service to the station or with shoppers who park in the lot and patronize nearby stores.

But Cynthia Korman, who will operate the market under contract with the chamber, has assured city officials that she can work around the rail service and allow access to the lot during hours the market is open.

Council permission is necessary because the city owns that portion of the Metrolink lot.

The council will consider the request at its meeting beginning at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 799 Moorpark Ave.
