USC researchers have mailed about 130,000 health surveys this month to Latinos from East Los Angeles to Claremont as part of the largest-ever multiethnic study of diet and cancer.

The five-year study by researchers at USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and the University of Hawaii is focusing on the relationship between diet and cancer for African-Americans, Latinos, Japanese-Americans and others ages 45 through 74.

Researchers eventually hope to reach more than 300,000 people. The study is being funded by an $8-million grant from the National Institutes of Health.
