World IN BRIEF : CUBA : Another MIG Pilot Defects; Jet Returned

A Cuban MIG-23 fighter jet landed at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo, Cuba, in the second defection by a Cuban fighter pilot in a week. The pilot of the Soviet-built jet requested political asylum. Another Cuban air force pilot landed at Key West Naval Air Station in Florida last Friday. The United States allowed the return of that plane to Cuba with another Cuban pilot--flown to Florida with a maintenance crew--at the controls. The maintenance crew flew home on a Cuban transport.
