Franklin 28, Los Angeles 14--Franklin running back Octavio Salas rushed 18 times for 152 yards and three touchdowns, and quarterback Jeff Deno completed 13 of 21 passes for 222 yards as the Panthers won their first game of the season in a nonleague game at Fraklin.

Wesley Watson, filling in for the injured Shena Onaolapo, scored on a three-yard run to cut the Romans’ deficit to 14-8 at halftime. However, the Panthers scored twice in the third quarter to nail down the victory.

Referee Charles Hammond inadvertently got in on the action near the end of the game when Octavio Verduzco of Franklin tried to run back a kickoff. A dog ran onto the field during the play and when Hammond tried to stop the action, he threw a straight arm that flattened Verduzco.
