Fond Memories
“Innocents Abroad” (Aug. 29) brought back memories of a 25-day Contiki camping tour that I took in the summer of 1992.
For $1,080, I got bus transportation, all breakfasts, most dinners, two nights in a hotel, one night of barracks-style accommodation and 21 nights in a tent.
I was one of three Americans on this trip. These trips mainly cater to Australians, South Africans and Israelis, (many of whom) are taking a year or two to see the world. There were people from 12 different countries on this tour.
We visited eight countries (and) one of the highlights was camping in Lauter Brunnen, Switzerland.
I enjoyed my trip very much. It was very economical and I’ve made many friends whom I still communicate with.
