Carter Hawley Hale Stores Inc. has named Thomas D. Remby vice president of store operations.
Remby, 46, most recently was with Robinsons-May Department Stores, where he had been vice president of store operations since late 1991. Previously, he was with Thalhimers as vice president of store operations.
Los Angeles-based Carter Hawley Hale operates 83 department stores under the names Broadway, Emporium and Weinstocks.
Los Angeles-based Vitafort International Corp. Chairman and Chief Executive Joseph R. Daly has announced his retirement as an officer and director.
President Steven Westlund was named to succeed him as chairman and chief executive.
At the same time, Mark Beychok was nominated to succeed Westlund as president of the food company. Beychok has spent the last 13 years in the food industry developing, manufacturing and marketing various lines of specialty dairy, bakery and other food products. Peter Benz, who has been acting as a financial consultant to the company since May, was elected to the board and appointed chief operating officer. Benz was formerly a senior vice president of a New York-based investment banking firm.
