Oracle to Supply Software for New IBM Mainframes: The company said it has reached an agreement in principle to provide database software for IBM’s first venture into mainframe parallel processing. Oracle Corp., a Redwood City, Calif.-based software maker, said it would provide its year-old Oracle Parallel Server software for installation into IBM’s latest model of System 390 mainframes. IBM plans to formally announce the venture Nov. 9, Oracle spokesman Zachary Nelson said. Oracle’s shares closed up $1.125 at $61.50 on Nasdaq volume of 1.14 million shares. IBM Corp. shares closed unchanged at $41.75 on NYSE volume of 2.4 million shares.
