Series of Strikes in China Reported: Workers at foreign-funded factories in China’s port of Tianjin have gone on strike over low pay and bad conditions at least 10 times this year, an official newspaper reported. The Beijing Youth News, in a rare report on labor unrest, said the Tianjin strikes had hit mainly South Korean enterprises, although one Japanese company was also affected. China, which has promised smooth labor relations for foreign investors, has tried to play down the threat of strikes at its foreign-funded factories.
