Hurricane Georgette in the Eye of a Storm

Re “Hurricane Georgette” (Sept. 22): Who says you have to apologize for being a woman anyway? You do not have to make up to make out.

This article is outrageously dated. Maybe 30 years ago I would have felt that I had to do all of this to attract a man. Today women are liberated. I am no feminist, but I still think that women shouldn’t have to put on make-up and slinky clothing to attract men. I think this woman demeans herself to look good in the eyes of men.

Amazing. “Hurricane Georgette” Mosbacher has lots of guts to proclaim herself a “Feminine Force.” Just exactly where would she be now if she hadn’t trapped three wealthy men into marriage?

And how dare she suggest that an intelligent woman spend a free Saturday afternoon at F.A.O. Schwarz husband hunting? What a degrading idea. Mosbacher is part of Susan Faludi’s backlash. Faludi is thought-provoking and analytical; Mosbacher is neither.
