Thousand Oaks Man Charged in Nurse’s Murder

VENTURA — Eight days after nurse Kellie O’Sullivan’s decomposed body was found amid brush in the Santa Monica Mountains, Ventura County prosecutors on Monday charged 19-year-old Mark Scott Sarrazin with her murder and a special allegation that could result in the death penalty.
The special allegation charges that the fatal shooting occurred while Sarrazin was kidnaping or robbing the 34-year-old Thousand Oaks woman. Prosecutors also say he stole O’Sullivan’s car and, after killing her, used it to abduct his former girlfriend.
But prosecutors said they have not decided whether they will seek the death penalty. Chief Deputy Dist. Atty. Kevin J. McGee said the decision will be made in a month or two, after checking Sarrazin’s background and considering other factors.
