Free Composting Workshop Offered

The city of Moorpark will offer a free back-yard composting workshop from 10 a.m. to noon today, aimed at giving residents a thorough introduction to the recycling technique.

The workshop will be held in the Moorpark Community Gardens, 13950 Peach Hill Road, and will cover various topics related to recycling yard and organic wastes.

“We’re going to talk about different types of composting,” said Jill Rubin, the city’s solid waste coordinator. “Even if people already compost, if they’re having problems or want to learn some new techniques, they should show up. It’s not just for beginners.”

The workshop will be conducted by the city, Ventura County’s Solid Waste Management Department, the Worm Concern and local gardeners. Participants are urged to wear old clothes and bring along a folding chair and sun protection.
