They have mimed for Ronald Reagan and George Bush. They have performed their antics on “Santa Barbara” and the “Young and the Restless.” And now Yours, Mime, and Ours brings its show this week to the Galleria at South Bay in Redondo Beach.

The pair of pantomimes known as Hollywood Steve (Bauer) and Marianne (Wittelsberger) will perform at the shopping mall as part of its Kidz Play series of music and magic shows. Every week the Galleria sponsors shows for children younger than 5.

Hollywood Steve and Marianne say they hope their show inspires children to learn more about theater and mime, in which performers communicate through body movements only.

Mime can be traced to the ancient Greeks and Romans. Actors, performing in masks, would use broad body movements to tell a story or simply entertain.

Yours, Mime, and Ours combines elements from three styles: the French (exemplified by Marcel Marceau), the Italian (best illustrated by circus clowns) and the Japanese (similar to Kabuki theater).

“Our show is not pure mime,” says Marianne. “It combines mime, comedy and magic into a hilarious act which can be enjoyed by all ages.”

Unlike mimes common in many city parks, Hollywood Steve and Marianne have eschewed the top hat and tuxedo for a classic black and white court jester costume--a touch they say sets them apart.

Yours, Mime, and Ours will perform Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Picnic Place Stage in the Galleria, 1815 Hawthorne Blvd., Redondo Beach. There is no charge for the performance. Information: (310) 371-7546.
