Let People Alone in Anaheim’s Parks

Share

I read where another Orange County city (Anaheim) is pondering thumbing its nose at the Constitution (“City Ponders Law to Battle Drugs in Parks,” Sept. 28) by considering an ordinance banning convicted drug offenders from city parks.

Of course, this has the backing of (city politician) City Atty. Jack White who expects the proposal to be challenged in court by people “who place the interests of drug offenders above the child and families who lawfully use the park. . . .”

What political garbage! This isn’t about placing one group’s interests above any other’s. It’s about being able to enjoy a city park without having police kick anyone out of the park because they “think” that person is a convicted drug offender.

If a crime is committed, make an arrest. Otherwise, leave people alone!
