Voice Powered Expects Loss of Up to $3 Million

Share

Voice Powered Technology, a Canoga Park company that sells remote-controlled VCR programmers that respond to voice commands, said it expected to post a net loss of between $2.5 million and $3 million for its third quarter ended Sept. 30.

There is no comparable year-earlier figure because Voice Powered did not start marketing its VCR voice programmer until July, 1992.

Voice Powered previously said it anticipated lower revenues and a loss in the third quarter because of expenses related to moving away from direct marketing to a more retail-oriented distribution strategy with its products now being sold by Philips Electronics N.V., a Dutch concern that is Europe’s largest electronics company.

In addition, Voice Powered said last week that it will restate its financial results for the second quarter that ended June 30.

The firm also said it raised $2 million from the private sale of common stock and warrants. A portion of the stock issued was contributed back to the company by Michael Bissonnette, its founder and former chief executive, who resigned in August.
