From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Using slight movements of her head to answer “yes” or “no,” a seventh-grade mathematics teacher paralyzed by arsenic poisoning told investigators she was afraid her husband was trying to kill her. Confronted by police, James Boley, 43, a high school counselor, said he fed his wife poison because he wanted to spend more time with her at home, authorities said. Donna Boley, 41, nodded or shook her head when police questioned her in a Clayton, Mo., hospital. Her husband was charged with assault and armed criminal action.
