IRVINE — Dance teacher and historian Ruth Clark Lert has donated her dance library and archives to UC Irvine. Amassed over 55 years, the collection includes more than 1,000 books, more than 200 taped interviews with artists and hundreds of posters, souvenir programs and reviews.
Lert, who lives in San Francisco, donated the collection to UCI because she has worked with several of its faculty members including Eugene Loring, founder of its dance department.
The collection will join Loring’s memorabilia and dance historian Olga Maynard’s collection in the UCI library and will be available to students and the public. Lert will be honored at a UCI Dance Ensemble program Oct. 28 at the Fine Arts Village Theatre on campus. Concert information: (714) 856-6616.
