VENTURA : Greens Host Forum for Candidates
Members of the local Green Party are hosting a candidates’ forum for those running in the crowded race for seats on the Ventura City Council.
The forum, to be moderated by a representative of the League of Women Voters, will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Great Pacific Iron Works, 259 W. Santa Clara St. in downtown Ventura.
“We believe that Ventura really is a linchpin of the county,” said Green Party spokesman Tom Stafford. “Whatever happens in Ventura in terms of water, greenbelts, almost anything, the rest of the county looks to it.”
Fourteen candidates are vying for four seats in this election.
Stafford, who said that all candidates have indicated that they would attend the forum, said the party sent questionnaires about local issues to each candidate. The Greens have yet to announce endorsements, Stafford said.
