Nation IN BRIEF : TEXAS : School to Review Cheerleader Policy

The Hempstead, Tex., school board that booted four pregnant teen-agers off a 16-member cheerleading squad, citing health concerns, says it may have to revise its policy because it can’t afford a legal fight. The school board appointed a committee to study the policy attacked by the American Civil Liberties Union and women’s rights groups that contend the school board’s policy is illegal and could threaten federal money received by the district.
