Whittier : Landfill Drops Fees to Help People With Home Projects

Share

The city landfill has lowered prices for residents who need to dump an occasional truckload of construction debris.

Residents may buy a six-load Saturday dumping permit, good for 12 months, for $28. A permit for a single Saturday visit to the city’s Savage Canyon Landfill will cost $10. The city’s former rate for a truckload a week was $30.85.

The goal is to give a financial break to residents working on home projects who are able to dump their debris Saturday, said Joan Dinger, the office supervisor for the public works department.

Residents may buy permits at the landfill, 13919 Penn St., from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The permits allow dumping of residential construction materials such as wood, fencing and roofing. No vehicles larger than a 3/4-ton truck or trailer will be allowed. Hazardous or illegal materials, liquids, whole tires or appliances containing Freon are not allowed.
