Fire District to Form Advisory Panel
The Ventura County Fire District plans to organize a citizens advisory group in Camarillo tonight to help advise Chief George Lund on the Fire Department’s future.
The group’s first organizational meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the county Department of Airports in Camarillo, 295 Durley Ave., Room 112.
Members of the group have already been chosen to represent the County Board of Supervisors, the six cities served by the County Fire Department and a variety of other groups ranging from the Latino Chamber of Commerce to the League of Women Voters, Lund said.
Public comments will be allowed near the end of the meeting.
Lund said the citizens group will make recommendations to him on planning and spending for the department’s future.
Lund said he will consider that advice along with recommendations from the county auditor, the firefighters’ union and his own management team. He then will draft a strategy plan by April or May on “what type of services we should provide, given the revenue we have,” Lund said.
