GLENDALE : Volunteer Needed for Commission

Share

The city is seeking volunteers to fill a vacancy on Glendale’s Public Service Commission, which advises City Council members on water and power operations.

The council-appointed position became open when businesswoman Vicki Lundin-Taylor resigned after 15 months, said Michael P. Hopkins, city public service director.

In an Aug. 18 letter, Lundin-Taylor wrote that she could no longer be on the five-member commission because she was leaving to pursue a business venture out of town, Hopkins said. Lundin-Taylor could not be reached for comment Thursday.

Those interested in the vacancy must submit an application by Tuesday at the city clerk’s office.

Other commission and board openings in Glendale include the Board of Zoning Adjustments, Historic Preservation Commission, Building Commission, Beautification Advisory Council, and Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission. Thursday was the filing deadline for those positions.

Various panels, each consisting of two City Council members, will review the applications and select nominees. The council will then appoint commissioners or board members.

Applicants must be registered voters living in the city. Applications for the Public Service Commission position are available at the city clerk’s office, 613 E. Broadway, Room 110.
