SMS Awarded Contract to Service Datatape Inc.

Software Maintenance Specialists in Santa Ana, a computer outsourcing company, said Monday it has signed an agreement with Datatape Inc., a Pasadena subsidiary of Eastman Kodak Co.

Under the three-year contract for an undisclosed sum, SMS will provide computer outsourcing services for all of Datatape Inc.’s manufacturing processes, including materials management, customer order processing and engineering. A private company, SMS will also service Datatape’s electronic mail system, payroll function and finance department.

Founded in 1981, SMS offers data processing services to more than 30 companies nationwide.

Datatape, formed in 1956, designs and develops high-tech storage devices. Its products were used in early test rockets and placed aboard the Mercury and Gemini capsules as well as Apollo moon missions.
