UAW Wins Delay of GM Plant Closings: About 4,500 jobs at two factories were saved as General Motors Corp. announced that the plants will not be shut down in 1995 as planned. GM said, in reaching a tentative contract agreement with the United Auto Workers union over the weekend, that it agreed to delay closing its metal stamping works in Kalamazoo, Mich., and an auto assembly plant in North Tarrytown, N.Y.
