A former New York corrections official has been selected as inspector general of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The MTA board unanimously voted to appoint Arthur Sinai, 54, of Staten Island, N.Y., after a nationwide search.
Sinai, who will serve was the MTA’s watchdog, owns a consulting firm that coordinates investigations and forensic accounting. He has previously served as deputy commissioner with the New York City Department of Corrections and was a deputy director of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Special Investigations.
“The MTA is a large, far-flung organization which is an enormous amount of the taxpayers’ dollars,” said Franklin White, the MTA’s chief. “We need a strong vigilant, highly experienced person to ensure these funds are properly expended.”
