Academic Named to Economic Post: One of Taiwan’s top academic economists has been named to a senior position with the cabinet’s economic planning office. Chi Schive, an economic development specialist, is expected to become vice chairman of the Council for Economic Planning and Development this week. Schive, a 46-year-old native of China’s Fujian province, is chairman of the economics department at National Taiwan University.
