Vitesse Semiconductor Reports 4th-Quarter Loss

Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. reported a net loss of $3.2 million for the fourth quarter that ended Sept. 30, compared with a loss of $469,000 in the fourth quarter of 1992.

Revenues for the latest quarter were $8 million, down from $10 million in the fourth quarter of 1992.

For the full fiscal year, Vitesse posted a loss of $19.1 million compared with a net income of $704,000 for 1992. Revenues for 1993 dropped to $26.4 million, compared with $37.3 million in 1992.

Company officials blamed the weak economy and a decline in exports for the company’s poor showing in 1993. The Camarillo-based company manufactures integrated circuits for commercial and military customers.
