Violent abortion procedures were overlooked again by the L.A. Times. While your article on the opening of the new Planned Parenthood (Oct. 14, 1993) dramatized the elaborate security measures Planned Parenthood implemented at their new “clinic,” the article failed to explain some very important facts.

While Planned Parenthood doesn’t provide abortions in their Lawndale facility yet, they are currently engaged in selling abortion through what they call “abortion referrals.” Women in crisis pregnancies will be counseled into thinking abortion is their best alternative by skillful “sales” people at Planned Parenthood.

And while the article addressed Planned Parenthood’s concern about future violence, it failed to point out that abortion procedures are extremely violent. Each of the 1.6 million abortions performed each year kills an innocent baby. And Planned Parenthood violently killed 132,000 of these helpless babies in 1992, according to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s annual report.

Speaking of violence, why was there no mention of the violence perpetrated against pro-lifers by radical abortion advocates? Pro-lifers have been physically assaulted--threatened with a gun, kicked, punched and bitten by pro-aborts (sic). Loud emergency horns and whistles have been blown inches away from pro-lifer’s ears. Our churches have been desecrated and our lives have been threatened.

In a story that largely focused on Planned Parenthood’s fear of violence--the real violence was overlooked--the violence that takes place inside the womb. Abortion is America’s bloody holocaust. The Abortion Industry must be exposed. It must be stopped. Maybe then, people will respect human life in all its stages.

Re: the New Planned Parenthood/South Bay Center.

I applaud the quiet determination of my family, my neighbors and my friends, and co-volunteers of South Bay Friends of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, whose efforts have at last led to the establishing of another much-needed and well-greeted, nonprofit reproductive health and medical center in our area.

Planning parenthood is not just about birth control or abortion. It is just what Planned Parenthood says: Planned. Parenthood. Planning life. Pro family, pro woman, pro choice. It is planned parenthood for life on earth. Because of life on earth.

Congratulations, South Bay Center/Planned Parenthood L.A. And to the South Bay Friends of Planned Parenthood, and all the hundreds of thousands South Bay voters who, with and for their hearts and minds, made certain in past elections to vote for the legality and availability of women’s rights to choose their own ways of life. Here in the South Bay, throughout America, and the world.
