Graham Runs Over Santa Ana Again as Edison Rolls

Michael Graham, getting a second chance to run against Santa Ana this season, gained 149 yards in 17 carries and scored three touchdowns as Edison rolled past Santa Ana, 54-14, in a Sunset League game Friday at Santa Ana Stadium.

Graham, a sophomore running back, started the season with Mater Dei and gained 201 yards as the Monarchs beat Santa Ana, 49-6, the third week of the season. Graham then transferred to Edison.

He scored on runs of three, 42 and three yards, all in the first half. He had one second-half carry before leaving the game with most of Edison’s other starters.

Edison (7-2, 5-1 in league) set the tone right away.

The Chargers, the eighth-ranked team in Orange County, went 78 yards in eight plays on their first drive. The touchdown came on a 24-yard pass from quarterback Todd Belitz to wide receiver Andy Linnen with 9 minutes 14 seconds left in the first quarter.

Edison outgained Santa Ana, 392-170, in total offense. The Chargers held Santa Ana quarterback Mark Fausto to 23 yards. He was six of 14, with one interception.

Santa Ana (1-8, 1-5) avoided the shutout when Carlos Maranda broke a 63-yard run for touchdown with 8:18 left in the game.
