WILSHIRE CENTER : Thrift Shop to Aid Church Programs

Immanuel Presbyterian Church will open a thrift shop in its basement Tuesday. The proceeds will help fund the church’s other social service programs.

The Loving Insight Thrift Shoppe, 666 S. Catalina St., will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and feature used clothing and household items.

The church also operates a Food Pantry and Clothes Closet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and a counseling and referral service Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. for assistance in finding jobs and housing, said Sonia Vidal, director of the church’s social service resource center.

“There’s an increasing need for help with people losing jobs and their homes,” Vidal said. “We’re trying to help them get back on their feet again.”
