Spain’s King Visits Israel

JERUSALEM —
King Juan Carlos of Spain, whose predecessors expelled tens of thousands of Jews five centuries ago, arrived in Israel on Monday for a historic visit and promised to push for peace in the Middle East.
President Ezer Weizman received Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia at the Rose Garden outside Parliament. The royal couple then visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust museum.
