Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg Show Postponed

An Anaheim Arena concert by Dr. Dre and Snoop Doggy Dogg has been postponed indefinitely--but not, spokesmen say, because of the rappers’ legal problems.

The Nov. 24 stop on their “Chronic Tour” is one of seven in the western states that has been postponed to allow the much-anticipated debut album by Snoop Dogg to make its way into circulation, according to Richard Klotzman of United Entertainment Corp. in Hunt Valley, Md., the tour’s coordinator. Klotzman said Tuesday that the tour dates are expected to be rescheduled to early 1994.

He said the postponement has nothing to do with the problems that have beset the two performers. Dogg, from Long Beach, has been charged with murder in connection with a killing in West Los Angeles Aug. 25. Authorities allege that he drove to the scene where his bodyguard shot a man with whom Dogg previously had argued. The bodyguard says he shot in self-defense. Dre is on probation in unrelated battery cases.

Barry Fey of Denver, who was to have been the regional promoter of the “Chronic Tour” dates, expressed disappointment over the postponement. “Ticket sales were excellent,” Fey said, noting that 3,000 already had been sold for the Anaheim show where attendance was projected at 10,000 to 12,000.

Fey said tickets already bought will be honored when the show is rescheduled, or may be exchanged for refunds at points of purchase.
