Share

Saddleback Community College District has narrowed its search for a new chancellor to four finalists, officials announced Monday.

District officials said a decision is expected in December on who will succeed former Chancellor Richard Sneed, who retired Aug. 31.

The four finalists are Clarence W. Mangham Jr., state administrator of facilities planning and credentials for the California Community Colleges system headquarters in Sacramento; Theodore Tilton, provost of the central campus of the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Ill.; Dianne G. Van Hook, superintendent-president of the Santa Clarita Community College District, and Jerry W. Young, superintendent-president of Chaffey Community College in Rancho Cucamonga.

John S. Williams, president of the Saddleback Community College District board of trustees, said the board plans to have final interviews with the four finalists in early December and to announce the new chancellor before the Christmas holidays.

Saddleback Community College District administers Saddleback College in Mission Viejo and Irvine Valley College in Irvine. Both community colleges, with a total enrollment of about 30,000 students, would be headed by the new chancellor.

Anna L. McFarlin, president of Irvine Valley College, has been serving as interim chancellor since Sneed’s departure.
