SIMI VALLEY : Commission Will Weigh Plan Update

Share

Wildlife protection policies, land-use plans and the expedited construction of a proposed fire station will be considered when the Simi Valley Planning Commission reviews an update of the city’s General Plan tonight.

Under the revised General Plan, the city would actively seek to preserve contiguous open space areas, instead of allowing them to be separated into small, isolated pieces by development.

The updated plan also sets as a priority the construction of a fire station near the proposed extension of 1st Street and Erringer Road north of the Simi Valley Freeway and eliminates outdated residential land-use categories from the city’s land-use policy.

The General Plan was overhauled four years ago, and the proposed changes are considered minor adjustments, a city planning staff member said.
