LOS ANGELES : Fleiss Gives Paparazzi the Slip, Appears in Court

Share

Reputed Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss hoodwinked the paparazzi Tuesday when she and her lawyer slipped into court and filed a notice that she won’t be in court next month when her trial date is set and a motion to dismiss her case on pandering charges is argued.

Fleiss had been scheduled to be in court this Friday for a pretrial hearing, but that hearing has now been postponed until Dec. 3. After a brief appearance before Superior Court Judge Judith Champagne, Fleiss and attorney Anthony Brooklier left Champagne’s 13th-floor courtroom the same way they had come--by stairwell.

The day before, dozens of photographers had staked out the Criminal Courts Building in hopes of catching Fleiss making a surreptitious court appearance. But Brooklier, having learned that the pack was waiting, put off bringing her in until Tuesday, when there was not a paparazzi in sight.
