LAKE FOREST : Discussion Delayed on Rent Control

Share

With one councilman missing, the City Council this week delayed a public discussion on a rent control ordinance.

Instead, the council tentatively set a special meeting on the issue for Nov. 30 at City Hall.

Councilman Tim Link was absent from Tuesday night’s meeting.

After trying for over a year to mediate a reconciliation between renters and landlords who run the city’s four mobile home parks, the council will decide whether to establish rent control in Lake Forest.

Residents want the council to limit rent increases and roll back rents several years to when they claim landlords began sharply increasing space fees.

Landlords say that rent control isn’t necessary because most tenants have signed long-term leases.
