HUNTINGTON BEACH : School Science Wing Will Honor Teacher

Share

City School District trustees voted this week to dedicate a new wing at Ethel Dwyer Middle School, when it is completed in 1995, in honor of longtime science teacher Mike Case.

Case, 67, taught at Dwyer from 1958 until he took early retirement until 1988. He continued to work on Dwyer science programs as an independent contractor until 1991. He and his wife, Katie, who taught at Perry School, together have 60 years of teaching service in the district.

“He was responsible for elevating science,” Supt. Duane Dishno said. “He touched thousands. His students scored among the highest on science tests in Orange County.”

Construction of the new wing should start next June.
