CELLULOID HEROES: Babes in Toyland and Gwar--two of rock’s most volatile attractions--will be featured in the upcoming A&M; film “S.F.W.,” which stars Stephen Dorff and Reese Witherspoon as anti-heroes who are taken hostage in a convenience store and survive on “beer and Twinkies” for 36 days.
Sounds like our kind of film!
The title is an acronym for a slang expression meaning “big deal.”
“We’re trying to get that (aggressive) vibe in the soundtrack by working with artists who have the same attitude,” says Michelle Hooper, publicist for the film, which is due next summer.
Both Babes and Gwar will be seen in the film on a fictional cable channel performing at a benefit celebrating the hostages’ release. While no bands have been signed yet for the soundtrack, the producers are hoping to get Soundgarden in addition to Babes and Gwar.
