India Mine Blast Kills 9

NEW DELHI —
An explosion in a coal mine killed nine miners and seriously injured 12 others Saturday, United News of India news agency reported. The blast in the Margherita coal mine in the eastern state of Assam, about 1,000 miles east of New Delhi, was caused by leaking methane gas.
