Olympic diver Bruce Kimball, who in 1988 drunkenly drove into a group of teen-agers, killing two, is to be released from custody Wednesday after serving less than five years of a 17-year manslaughter sentence.

Kimball, 30, who will never be able to hold a driver’s license, will remain on probation for 15 years and during that time must have a judge’s permission before he can visit any place that serves alcohol.

Department of Corrections officials said Kimball plans to move to Illinois upon his release, and his probation will be handled there. His family lives in Michigan.
